00:00:10:21\n and I was born\rMarch 31st, 1943.\n\n00:00:10:21 - 00:00:14:01\nI lived at 30 Wave Crest for 43 years.\n\n00:00:14:11 - 00:00:18:08\nWhen I first moved to Venice in 1970,\rI was pregnant with my son, who is now 50,\n\n00:00:19:00 - 00:00:22:00\nmy baby, and, moved to the Peninsula.\n\n00:00:22:00 - 00:00:26:05\nI moved here with my first husband to try\rit just because we had friends here.\n\n00:00:26:05 - 00:00:27:18\nWe started coming in the late 60s.\n\n00:00:27:18 - 00:00:30:18\nIt was so cool.\n\n00:00:30:18 - 00:00:32:04\nI, we moved.\n\n00:00:32:04 - 00:00:37:02\nWe rented a house on the Peninsula, on\rOceanfront Walk and Hurricane to try it.\n\n00:00:37:02 - 00:00:38:00\nI never went back.\n\n00:00:38:00 - 00:00:39:17\nYeah,\rI remember the first time coming over here\n\n00:00:39:17 - 00:00:41:19\nas an adult\rnot when my grandma brought me.\n\n00:00:41:19 - 00:00:42:20\nBecause I don't remember that.\n\n00:00:42:20 - 00:00:46:03\nBut I remember going, ahhhh (exhales).\n\n00:00:46:15 - 00:00:50:05\nI felt at home because I'm from Pacoima\n\n00:00:50:05 - 00:00:53:23\nand it was a very working\rclass, mixed race community.\n\n00:00:53:23 - 00:00:57:01\nLower economic income,\rand it just felt like I was home.\n\n00:00:57:01 - 00:01:00:06\nBut I had the beach was unbelievable.\n\n00:01:00:06 - 00:01:03:09\nSo I felt very comfortable\rfrom the first time I saw it, and I just\n\n00:01:03:09 - 00:01:05:06\nfelt I was home.\n\n00:01:05:06 - 00:01:06:00\nIt was a time\n\n00:01:06:00 - 00:01:09:18\nwhere people started to drop out,\rturn on, drop out, and people started\n\n00:01:09:18 - 00:01:14:01\nlooking at their button up lives\rand watching all the hippies on TV\n\n00:01:14:01 - 00:01:17:05\nand my, you know, I was like, it's\ra very straight, er, school schoolteacher.\n\n00:01:17:05 - 00:01:21:17\nI was teaching kindergarten and in Pacoima,\ractually living in Woodland Hills.\n\n00:01:21:17 - 00:01:25:11\nSo it was attractive to come here\rand see this more freedom of lifestyle\n\n00:01:25:11 - 00:01:29:02\nand just a relaxed, more\rrelaxed atmosphere.\n\n00:01:29:02 - 00:01:31:17\nYou didn't have to dress up\rto go out, anyway.\n\n00:01:31:17 - 00:01:33:11\nSo it was felt it was very welcoming.\n\n00:01:33:11 - 00:01:36:13\nAnd so we decided to rent a house\rbecause our friends were here.\n\n00:01:36:13 - 00:01:40:08\nWe were coming a lot and, \ruh, never went back.\n\n00:01:40:08 - 00:01:41:07\nSo, yeah.\n\n00:01:41:07 - 00:01:44:06\nWhere where are your places\rthat you hung out when you were in Venice?\n\n00:01:44:06 - 00:01:45:09\nOh my goodness.\n\n00:01:45:09 - 00:01:45:23\nUhmm...\n\n00:01:46:03 - 00:01:47:09\nJuergens\n\n00:01:47:09 - 00:01:50:08\nfor breakfast or the Meatless Mess Hall.\n\n00:01:50:08 - 00:01:52:05\nI preferred Juergens.\n\n00:01:52:05 - 00:01:53:09\nYou know what that is, okay.\n\n00:01:53:09 - 00:01:57:14\nOn the corner of Windward,\rWindward and, um, Pacific.\n\n00:01:57:14 - 00:01:59:09\nIt's kind of where the Egg Slut is,\n\n00:01:59:09 - 00:02:00:11\nnow.\n\n00:02:00:11 - 00:02:01:06\nThat was Juergens.\n\n00:02:01:06 - 00:02:02:07\nIt was the coffee shop.\n\n00:02:02:07 - 00:02:05:09\nIt was Anna Hague ran it\rand her husband was Juergen.\n\n00:02:05:09 - 00:02:07:15\nThis is John Hague's ex-wife.\n\n00:02:07:15 - 00:02:10:22\nAnd it was like the local place\rwhere you went for breakfast\n\n00:02:10:22 - 00:02:13:19\nwhenever you got up and walked over there.\n\n00:02:13:19 - 00:02:16:08\nAnd there were a couple other places.\n\n00:02:16:08 - 00:02:19:19\nWell, Honkey Hoagies\rHandy Hangout was the place at night\n\n00:02:20:03 - 00:02:24:13\nfor entertainment, which we can go into,\rbut along the boardwalk, because I lived\n\n00:02:24:13 - 00:02:30:01\nadjacent to the boardwalk and bought\rmy house in 1973, my kids were little.\n\n00:02:30:01 - 00:02:31:20\nIt was before any vending.\n\n00:02:31:20 - 00:02:34:00\nIt was just a quiet place.\n\n00:02:34:00 - 00:02:36:11\nThe bikers, like the heavy duty\rbikers, ruled it.\n\n00:02:36:11 - 00:02:39:08\nSo there was no hankie panky\rbecause they were in charge.\n\n00:02:39:08 - 00:02:42:13\nBut the neighbors would promenade\rwith our kids on the weekends.\n\n00:02:42:13 - 00:02:45:22\nIt was just the place to go out,\rsee and be seen and walk quietly\n\n00:02:45:22 - 00:02:48:15\nwith your children.\rAnd the drum circle was there.\n\n00:02:48:15 - 00:02:49:05\nIt was...\n\n00:02:49:05 - 00:02:51:02\nHippies were getting arrested by the cops.\n\n00:02:51:02 - 00:02:53:07\nThey were the only ones the cops bugged.\n\n00:02:53:07 - 00:02:56:17\nThey didn't mess with the bikers,\rbut the hippies smoking pot got busted\n\n00:02:56:17 - 00:02:58:06\nleft and right.\n\n00:02:58:06 - 00:03:00:19\nSo, it was a beautiful time.\n\n00:03:00:19 - 00:03:02:09\nIt's really beautiful time.\n\n00:03:02:09 - 00:03:03:20\nHonkey Hoagies Handy Hangout\n\n00:03:03:20 - 00:03:06:16\n\rwas where the band Severance played.\n\n00:03:06:16 - 00:03:10:09\nAnd Severance was a group of Venice guys\ror Venice implants,\n\n00:03:10:09 - 00:03:13:19\nlike, we all were.\rExpats, what do you call it?\n\n00:03:13:19 - 00:03:15:08\nWe all came from somewhere else.\n\n00:03:15:08 - 00:03:16:06\nThis was a group of guys\n\n00:03:16:06 - 00:03:20:11\nwho happened to be single parents,\rlike I was a single parent by that time.\n\n00:03:20:11 - 00:03:23:22\nAnd, we took\rturns babysitting each other's kids.\n\n00:03:23:22 - 00:03:27:09\nSo we put the kids to bed and go dancing.\n\n00:03:27:09 - 00:03:29:18\nUhmmm, they danced, they played Honkey...\n\n00:03:29:18 - 00:03:34:04\nSeverance play five nights a week,\rand we danced.\n\n00:03:34:04 - 00:03:36:13\nWe'd go dancing for an hour\ror two, come back home.\n\n00:03:36:13 - 00:03:39:19\nIt was the best, best, \rmost innocent, lovely time.\n\n00:03:39:19 - 00:03:44:13\nVenice has always been different\rthan other communities culturally,\n\n00:03:44:13 - 00:03:47:07\nvisually and culturally, actually.\n\n00:03:47:07 - 00:03:49:18\nIt just was a place where the,\n\n00:03:49:18 - 00:03:53:07\nthe motto or the way of being is just,\ryou can do whatever you want, but,\n\n00:03:53:07 - 00:03:55:14\nbut don't hurt anybody\rand don't get in anyone's face.\n\n00:03:55:14 - 00:03:58:08\nThat was it. And it wasn't buttoned up.\rYou didn't have to dress up.\n\n00:03:58:08 - 00:03:59:20\nYou didn't have to put makeup on.\n\n00:03:59:20 - 00:04:01:08\nYou didn’t have to wear a bra.\n\n00:04:01:08 - 00:04:04:10\nYou could just be, \rwalk out of the house and you could be\n\n00:04:04:10 - 00:04:07:17\nhowever you felt like being that day\rand nobody would judge you.\n\n00:04:07:17 - 00:04:09:05\nThat's what was freeing for me.\n\n00:04:09:05 - 00:04:11:14\nIt was just a non-judgmental,\n\n00:04:12:00 - 00:04:16:07\nway of living and, people just got along.\n\n00:04:16:07 - 00:04:19:05\nVenice was different visually\rbecause it was old, most of the,\n\n00:04:19:05 - 00:04:22:14\nit was before any of the new houses,\ra lot of cottages. In this neighborhood.\n\n00:04:22:14 - 00:04:27:14\nit was all small cottages,\rand all of Venice was a small cottage.\n\n00:04:27:14 - 00:04:30:09\nIt was very artsy because \rnobody wanted to be here.\n\n00:04:30:09 - 00:04:33:09\nUntil the late ‘60’s there were still oil wells.\n\n00:04:33:09 - 00:04:34:23\nIt was really considered\n\n00:04:34:23 - 00:04:38:06\na place that wasn't good to live\rfor a variety of reasons.\n\n00:04:38:06 - 00:04:42:05\nOne is that it was not considered,\ryou know, up and coming.\n\n00:04:42:05 - 00:04:43:11\nIt had oil wells.\n\n00:04:43:11 - 00:04:47:18\nIt had these little cottages\rthat you could buy for $10,000 anywhere,\n\n00:04:47:18 - 00:04:49:06\neast of Abbot Kinney.\n\n00:04:49:06 - 00:04:52:06\n$10,000 was a steal.\n\n00:04:52:06 - 00:04:54:10\n$15,000 were bigger houses.\n\n00:04:54:10 - 00:04:58:08\nBut nobody, it was considered unsafe,\rwhich I used to laugh at.\n\n00:04:58:08 - 00:05:00:21\nWe'd say, yeah, \rit's really unsafe. Don't come.\n\n00:05:00:21 - 00:05:01:19\nMy parents were\n\n00:05:01:19 - 00:05:04:19\nappalled that I would move here and,\n\n00:05:04:19 - 00:05:08:15\nand after I got divorced, especially, and\rbuy a house without even consulting them.\n\n00:05:08:15 - 00:05:10:22\nBut, I knew this was home.\n\n00:05:10:22 - 00:05:14:09\nSo I got involved in The Beachhead in...\n\n00:05:14:09 - 00:05:17:22\nprobably 1973.\n\n00:05:17:22 - 00:05:19:19\nIt was after I just bought my house.\n\n00:05:19:19 - 00:05:22:19\nMy friend Pam Emerson,\n\n00:05:22:19 - 00:05:26:07\nwho has since sadly passed\raway, lived on, Breeze.\n\n00:05:26:07 - 00:05:27:17\nShe was my first Venice friend.\n\n00:05:27:17 - 00:05:32:13\nOur kids went to the same preschool\rand she took me, one day,\n\n00:05:32:13 - 00:05:33:08\nI had just moved in,\n\n00:05:33:08 - 00:05:38:14\nShe took me for a walk to meet John Haig,\rwho was living on Breeze and Pacific.\r\n\n00:05:38:14 - 00:05:42:04\nJohn Hague is a, legendary Venice poet,\n\n00:05:42:04 - 00:05:43:14\na political activist.\n\n00:05:43:14 - 00:05:46:15\nHe's one of the founders of the Peace\rand Freedom Party.\n\n00:05:46:15 - 00:05:49:20\nAnd I, you know,\rI wasn't involved politically in Venice,\n\n00:05:49:20 - 00:05:53:19\nalthough I was a little bit in the Valley\rdoing Valley girl kinds of things.\n\n00:05:53:19 - 00:05:57:11\nI would go to the Peace Center and,\ryou know, volunteer one day a week\n\n00:05:57:11 - 00:06:01:08\nand, you know, the Women's Center,\rI would do things like that.\n\n00:06:01:08 - 00:06:03:07\nBut I was a young mom and,\n\n00:06:03:07 - 00:06:05:23\nuhmm...you know,\rI did what I could do as a volunteer.\n\n00:06:05:23 - 00:06:08:19\nSo I've always had that is my thing.\n\n00:06:08:19 - 00:06:11:19\nAnyway, so Pam took me to meet John Hague,\n\n00:06:12:00 - 00:06:14:12\nwho sort of started\rintroducing me to people,\n\n00:06:14:12 - 00:06:16:21\nand then I got invited to \ra Beachhead Meeting.\n\n00:06:16:21 - 00:06:19:22\nAnd being, you know,\rit just seemed like a fun thing to do.\n\n00:06:19:22 - 00:06:22:16\nAnd it was.  So I got involved \rin The Beachhead Collective.\n\n00:06:22:16 - 00:06:26:03\nIt was never in\rhierarchy, it was all volunteer.\n\n00:06:26:03 - 00:06:29:03\nAnd we would accept...\n\n00:06:29:08 - 00:06:31:22\nsuggestions, poetry and articles\rfrom the community.\n\n00:06:31:22 - 00:06:34:12\nAnd we got to vote them up or down.\rAnd it was a collective.\n\n00:06:34:12 - 00:06:36:08\nSo, it was very interesting.\n\n00:06:36:08 - 00:06:38:01\nAnd we put out a paper once a month\n\n00:06:38:01 - 00:06:42:09\nand we actually typeset it ourselves,\rcut up the typesetting, pasted it.\n\n00:06:42:09 - 00:06:45:07\nWe wound up moving\rto my living room to do it.\n\n00:06:45:07 - 00:06:48:13\nAnd so I had carpets\rwhich were completely glued up.\n\n00:06:48:13 - 00:06:51:05\nBut we put together,\rphysically put together a paper\n\n00:06:51:05 - 00:06:55:01\nevery month, and I was\rthe only one at that time with a car.\n\n00:06:55:01 - 00:06:57:02\nSo I had to go to the printer.\n\n00:06:57:02 - 00:07:00:03\nI picked them up at the printer,\rand I did all the distribution\n\n00:07:00:03 - 00:07:02:23\nbecause I had a car and nobody else did.\n\n00:07:02:23 - 00:07:04:10\nSo it was a wonderful time.\n\n00:07:04:10 - 00:07:07:15\nI did that for about three years, I think.\n\n00:07:07:15 - 00:07:12:06\nAnd then Carol Fondiller, who's another\rVenice legendary person who sadly passed on,\n\n00:07:12:06 - 00:07:16:14\nwho was a brilliant poet\rand writer and activist...\n\n00:07:17:15 - 00:07:19:10\n...and I said, you know what?\n\n00:07:19:10 - 00:07:20:11\nWe're tired.\n\n00:07:20:11 - 00:07:22:19\nWe need to find people to help do this.\n\n00:07:22:19 - 00:07:26:20\nSo we went to meet Arnold Springer,\rwho was a professor\n\n00:07:26:20 - 00:07:28:15\nwho lived on Breeze as well.\n\n00:07:28:15 - 00:07:31:10\nAnd we just convinced him\rto join our collective\n\n00:07:31:10 - 00:07:34:10\nbecause we knew he could do a good job.\n\n00:07:35:02 - 00:07:39:07\nHe was at that time, he, he wore,\ryou know, jackets with patches.\n\n00:07:39:07 - 00:07:40:14\nHe was very professorial.\n\n00:07:40:14 - 00:07:46:03\nHe started making wine in his basement\rand was before the Ulan Bator...Foundation,\n\n00:07:46:03 - 00:07:47:21\n\rwhich I hope you'll cover at some point.\n\n00:07:47:21 - 00:07:48:23\nBut, he said, sure.\n\n00:07:48:23 - 00:07:51:18\nAnd so he got involved and then we quit.\n\n00:07:51:18 - 00:07:53:19\nKnowing that it would be in good hands\n\n00:07:53:19 - 00:07:55:09\nand would continue.\n\n00:07:55:09 - 00:07:56:18\nSo, uhmmm...\n\n00:07:56:18 - 00:07:57:12\nthat's what we did.\n\n00:07:57:12 - 00:07:58:21\nSo I think it was three years for me.\n\n00:07:58:21 - 00:08:02:17\nCarol actually stayed on, as she\rbecause she wrote a lot for The Beachhead.\n\n00:08:02:17 - 00:08:06:06\nI think she stayed on The Collective\rfor a while, but, I moved on.\n\n00:08:06:06 - 00:08:07:00\nAnyway,\n\n00:08:07:00 - 00:08:09:08\nbut the development started happening.\n\n00:08:09:08 - 00:08:12:04\nPeople started discovering Venice,\rand I have to say, I'm one of them\n\n00:08:12:04 - 00:08:13:00\nbecause I came here\n\n00:08:13:00 - 00:08:16:20\nand people like me came here\rand could afford to buy a house. So...\n\n00:08:16:20 - 00:08:20:10\nso that makes me one of the gentrifiers.\n\n00:08:20:21 - 00:08:23:17\nUhmm, but we got involved\rwith fighting big developments,\n\n00:08:23:17 - 00:08:27:01\nand the Coastal Commission\rhad just come into formation.\n\n00:08:27:01 - 00:08:32:16\nAnd so that gave us some power in, in, in\rterms of stopping things that were not,\n\n00:08:32:16 - 00:08:36:04\nuhmmm, you know,\rconsidered of the character of Venice.\n\n00:08:36:04 - 00:08:38:00\nIt was before the Venice Specific Plan.\n\n00:08:38:00 - 00:08:40:04\nBut we got involved\rwith doing that as well.\n\n00:08:40:04 - 00:08:42:10\nSo Venice had more...\n\n00:08:42:10 - 00:08:45:05\ndensity was allowed,\rwhich actually was a good thing\n\n00:08:45:05 - 00:08:46:13\nand would have been a better thing now\n\n00:08:46:13 - 00:08:49:16\nthan having to fight the \rVenice Specific Plan, which...\n\n00:08:49:16 - 00:08:54:11\nConsequences over have not been good for,\rkeeping affordable housing in Venice.\n\n00:08:54:11 - 00:08:56:19\nBut, at the time, you do\rwhat you think is right.\n\n00:08:56:19 - 00:08:59:22\nBut we were able to stop, some really\n\n00:08:59:22 - 00:09:03:03\nout of hand developments,\rlike one on my block.\n\n00:09:03:04 - 00:09:05:11\nI told you, I mean, I have a photo of it.\n\n00:09:05:11 - 00:09:08:08\nWe had a, just, in Venice\ryou knew your neighbors.\n\n00:09:08:08 - 00:09:09:02\nYou knew... we,\n\n00:09:09:02 - 00:09:12:07\nI knew everyone on the block.\rWe had a telephone tree.\n\n00:09:12:07 - 00:09:14:13\nUhmmm, I had Big Frank...\n\n00:09:14:13 - 00:09:16:19\nOh, you should interview Frank.\n\n00:09:16:19 - 00:09:18:10\nHe still lives in Venice on Westminster.\n\n00:09:18:10 - 00:09:21:01\nFrank and Linda Albertano.\n\n00:09:21:01 - 00:09:22:12\nHe was six foot six,\n\n00:09:22:12 - 00:09:23:18\nbig guy on the corner.\n\n00:09:23:18 - 00:09:25:16\nLived on the corner of Wave Crescent.\n\n00:09:25:16 - 00:09:30:17\nAnd then I had Dave Sachs and Zabel,\rwho were of the original Gold's Gym guys.\n\n00:09:30:17 - 00:09:35:14\nIn fact, Dave bought the first\rGolds Gym on Pacific, Golds \rGym for...\n\n00:09:35:18 - 00:09:36:11\n...what's his name?\n\n00:09:36:11 - 00:09:37:17\nHis first name, Gold...\n\n00:09:37:17 - 00:09:42:01\nanyway, Joe Gold and Dave still lives there\rnext door to me on Wave Crest.\n\n00:09:42:01 - 00:09:43:04\nUhmm, wonderful guy.\n\n00:09:43:04 - 00:09:46:01\nOne of the original bodybuilders.\n\n00:09:46:01 - 00:09:48:22\nZabel passed away.\rSo we knew everybody.\n\n00:09:48:22 - 00:09:51:19\nIt was very safe. And it was safe\rbecause you knew everybody.\n\n00:09:51:19 - 00:09:56:09\nAnd if somebody had an issue, you called\rand everyone ran out and dealt with it.\n\n00:09:56:09 - 00:09:58:05\nSo it was a very...that's what made it safe.\n\n00:09:58:05 - 00:09:59:05\nIt was a community.\n\n00:09:59:05 - 00:10:02:00\nIt was a community\rwhere you knew every one of your neighbors\n\n00:10:02:00 - 00:10:04:18\nand your kids could play outside,\rand they were watched.\n\n00:10:04:18 - 00:10:08:13\nThey could play the boardwalk\rand they were watched, and it was safe.\n\n00:10:08:13 - 00:10:09:13\nI forgot...\n\n00:10:09:13 - 00:10:10:09\nOh, so there was.\n\n00:10:10:09 - 00:10:14:08\nSo somebody bought three lots\rright across the street from me,\n\n00:10:14:08 - 00:10:16:18\nand they proposed building, combining\n\n00:10:16:18 - 00:10:19:20\nthe three lots\rand building a rowhouse with five...\n\n00:10:19:20 - 00:10:23:19\nit would be flat front, would have been\rfive apartments or condos or whatever.\n\n00:10:23:19 - 00:10:26:00\nThe condos flat faced. Right.\n\n00:10:26:00 - 00:10:27:11\nAnd so we said, wait a minute.\n\n00:10:27:11 - 00:10:31:23\nWe don't want to have that big,\rall wide building.\n\n00:10:31:23 - 00:10:34:13\nAnd so the neighbors\rgot together and we fought it.\n\n00:10:34:13 - 00:10:36:11\nAnd we won at the Coastal Commission.\n\n00:10:36:11 - 00:10:38:12\nAnd I have a photo on my gate of my house\n\n00:10:38:12 - 00:10:40:04\nit says, “Venice rules,\n\n00:10:40:04 - 00:10:42:06\nCondos suck.”\n\n00:10:42:06 - 00:10:46:11\nBut we stopped them from building\rthe three across, so they built two.\n\n00:10:46:11 - 00:10:48:23\nAnd then there's still an empty\rlot in the middle.\n\n00:10:48:23 - 00:10:51:17\nThe spirit of Venice still lives.\n\n00:10:51:17 - 00:10:54:05\nThere's enough of us,\n\n00:10:54:05 - 00:10:57:05\neither OGs or new people who have that,\n\n00:10:57:05 - 00:11:01:12\nyou know, love of the unusual\ror the funky and the\n\n00:11:01:12 - 00:11:04:08\nwhatever the affect is,\rthere's enough of us.\n\n00:11:04:08 - 00:11:07:14\nAnd what we found out where\rI work these days with Venice Community\n\n00:11:07:14 - 00:11:11:18\nHousing, we really have found out\rthere are more of us than them.\n\n00:11:11:18 - 00:11:13:18\nWe just have to find each other.\n\n00:11:13:18 - 00:11:17:23\nThe, the the fighters are loud\rand they're nasty.\n\n00:11:17:23 - 00:11:21:16\nAnd that makes you think there's\rmore of them, but they really aren't.\n\n00:11:21:16 - 00:11:24:11\nI mean, in the battles\rthat I've been part of just in the last\n\n00:11:24:11 - 00:11:28:05\nfew years, trying to\rbuild back some of them,\n\n00:11:28:05 - 00:11:32:07\na little bit of the low income housing,\rthat was all over Venice.\n\n00:11:32:07 - 00:11:35:09\nThat was Venice in the ‘70s.\n\n00:11:35:09 - 00:11:38:09\nIt's interesting\rthe people that are afraid of it and hate\n\n00:11:38:09 - 00:11:43:09\nand without really reason,\rthey think it will lower property values.\n\n00:11:43:09 - 00:11:44:19\nExcuse me.\n\n00:11:44:19 - 00:11:47:18\nNothing has lowered\rproperty values in Venice.\n\n00:11:47:18 - 00:11:51:05\nThousand people lying on the street\rhasn't lowered property values.\n\n00:11:51:05 - 00:11:54:09\nHow could a beautifully designed\rbuilding lower property values?\n\n00:11:54:09 - 00:11:56:02\nExcuse me.\n\n00:11:56:02 - 00:11:57:19\nBut it's that's just not valid.\n\n00:11:57:19 - 00:12:00:05\nIt's just fear, \rit's totally fear based. It says.\n\n00:12:00:05 - 00:12:03:08\nBut, but what we found really\ris that there are more\n\n00:12:03:08 - 00:12:07:07\npeople who still have\rthe Venice spirit of share,\n\n00:12:07:07 - 00:12:10:04\nwe can be around other people\rwho don't look like us.\n\n00:12:10:04 - 00:12:11:08\nIt's okay.\n\n00:12:11:08 - 00:12:14:01\nWe're not giving up anything by sharing\n\n00:12:14:01 - 00:12:19:09\na little bit of the turf with people\rwho don't have money or resources.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://veniceheritagemuseum.aviaryplatform.com/collections/2416/collection_resources/129351/file/242815#t=0.0,749.61067"}]}]}]}
